Entry for June 12, 2007
Times are a changing with the Long Beach Nine trial signifying the first time that black on white hate crime has reached the national level. The prosecution presented a very strong case and if the information were true it would be a hate crime plan and simple. The facts of the case are unclear and the fact that "reverse racism" is involved gave the trial a life of its own. That and the fact that the prosecution referred to one of the children as " a naughty nasty gangster crip" the child having no prior criminal record or affiliation. The case overshadowed many others such as that of Genarlow Wilson. Wilson was tried for statutory raping a 15 year old white girl while he was 17 a crime in Georgia. What about Lionel Tate who was given 30 years for accidently killing a 6 year old girl with a wrestling move. He was 12 at the time. It makes me wonder that even though times are changing are they changing for the better? Is justice really blind? When will people finall become color blind themselves? you would think in 2007 these questions would have been answered 15 years ago. Lets All Live And Let Live.
